Website Budget Considerations
By Julie Adler

Now that you’ve defined your
basic decisions about your website, know what you want to accomplish
with your website, let’s consider your budget.
You can spend $50.00
-$50,000.00 – on up for a complete website from inception to completion.
While it is critical for your website to function, remember to budget
some in for marketing.
There are many examples of a
DIY or “Do It Yourself” websites. Generally these are best for personal
websites and small, basic websites. Owners of these sites need
visibility as small sites (few pages and limited content) do not deliver
as readily by Google and Yahoo as large sites. Look here for one example
of a
basic website package.
Decide on the graphics,
colors and pictures for your site. This visual messaging is what draws
visitors to stay longer than 10 seconds.
Determine who will write the
content. Make sure the messaging is reflecting your business. Most
importantly – speak to your primary market in their terms.
Beyond that, the sky is the
limit. Add in as much functionality as you can reasonably develop. Plan
to get your site launched quickly. Next continue to add additional
content on a regular basis. Upload any content you regularly develop
like articles, newsletters, events, FAQ’s and product information. Add
calculators, widgets, and blogs for added audience participation and
search engine visibility.
